Rocked

Thanks to all who notified me of the Times review of last night's performance. Last night was the first night that I was truly happy with my performance, so I guess the timing was good! I figured out the tuning problems and feel very comfortable now. Last night I was able to just think about making music and telling the story, which is how I like it.

Working with Robert Spano is just about as great as it gets, let me tell you. He was so eager to help and make me comfortable. He trusted that I could do it, that I was capable, so he wanted to figure out what the problem was (with the tuning). So I worked on it with his assistant, Laura Jackson, and he added a few ideas here and there, and then we had it. A partnership, as you can see from the picture in the review. We may not be making eye contact, but we are communicating. Bringing that beautiful piece of music to life.

And here is another picture of another reason I love my job:He told me that I rocked... DUDE!!!

VERY cool pic!

Wish I could be on the right coast, but maybe it'll arrive over here someday, and you'll be a part of it? I can keep hoping!

Saw a good mention at Cafe Aman, too. (And I'm sure there are many more.)

Brava!

(Is "sung" the right verb in the review? Why do I want it to be "sang" ... I'm not a great English speaker, so it's probably my problem! :-/ )

How cool is it that David Bowie went to Lincoln Center to hear Osvaldo's music?!
You look beautiful (and I'm sure you sounded fabulous!). I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I'd love to see the dress. Is this the dress you mentioned in an earlier post?

Are you taller than Bowie?! That totally ruins my crush. On him, not on you. I'll always have a crush on you.

Congrats!

And ... isn't the picture here of you too? (Hope the HTML works for this!)

Ok, patty, that is totally RIDICULOUS!! I mean, I love seeing my picture at Opera Today.com, but seriously - a picture of me has nothing to do with La Pasion! Why not a picture of Osvaldo? Wow. So crazy. The pring edition of the NYTimes review had a more appropriate photo, too, one of Luciana and the percussionists. Much more indicative of the work.

Sarah, I'm wearing heels (2 inches or so), and I think he was still taller than me. Really an incredible man.

More soon...

Well, but it is, after all, Opera Today ... and you are an opera singer. Yes? So you take precedence over a mere conductor! ;-)

So ... I went back to the NY Times review ... they changed "sung" to "sang". Hah!
