Not only did I sing Regnava at the audition today, I started with it.
Take that, Fear!
Somebody ate their Wheaties this morning. (Actually, it was granola with vanilla yogurt and blueberries.) And my manager’s response? “Well, I expect to hear a lot more of that aria this fall!”
Yes, ma’am.

Way to go!
kick ass!!!! :)
I absolutely LOVE that aria. In the RCA Italia CD I have with Anna Moffo as Lucia, she's at the top of her game. Are you leaning toward more bel canto-type pieces over the "other" stuff? And what about selecting rarely heard arias compared to what everyone else is singing? Aren't there just too many sopranos singing "Un bel di" these days in competitions? You should check out the soprano aria in Meyerbeer's "Marguerite d'Anjou" with its solo violin accompaniment. Sweet!
THAT is awesome. I once met Cecilia Bartoli! Love the breakfast too. Now I'm going to try it!!!!
awesome. rock on with lucia and all her crazy glory!
g
Fear is ACB's bitch.
How terribly Halloween-y of you! Way to go.
that's a "you GO girl" moment, all right! I'm trying to beat "Vecchia Zimarra" into my throat properly the same way... the whole piece works very well for me, I have a great characterization worked out, etc... but that ONE HIGH NOTE is driving me nuts! There's no preparation time, so I tend to forget it's coming. Then, WHAM it's upon me, and I completely psych myself out, and then of course it falls apart.
i'm hoping to open with it for auditions in November though. You get to be my inspiration while I practice now.
I took your "no fear" mantra this weekend to my flute audition. I didn't get the chair, but I nailed my excerpts! Finally no tied up fingers in Mendlessohn's "Incidental Music" during an audition! woohoo!
Belated congrats on knocking the Regnava fear out of the park!
